Applying For A Credit Card
Applying for a credit card is usually done by post or online. You will be asked to fill in an application form that asks for your details of address and income etc. It will also ask for your permission to do a credit check on you. It is this credit check that will result in a credit score for you; this credit score will determine your approval or denial of the application and also sometimes the limit on the card.
An application for a credit card will usually take a couple of weeks. The credit card company will write to you to inform you of your approval and credit limit, or denial. Once they have approved the card they will issue one to you and send it by registered post. A credit card will be sent through the post in an inactive state. This prevents the card being intercepted and used by someone other than you. When you receive your card you will need to contact the credit card issuer and answer some security questions and they will activate your card for use.
